Congratulations to Maree Leis hosted by GT Jeffreys Group, who was a very deserving winner of the Trainee of the Year accolade. Maree completed a Certificate III in Business Administration through CTC, who were also the Registered Training Organisation. Due to the excellent vocational skills Maree acquired during her traineeship, Maree was offered, and accepted, a full-time permanent position with her Host Trainer, GT Jeffreys Pty Ltd.

Maree’s personal attributes, which include excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, honesty and reliability, a passion for perfection and strong organisational skills, make Maree an exceptional nominee for this award. Through St John Ambulance Cadets, Maree has achieved many awards including in 2006 Maree was the first person in Queensland to be awarded with the Mark Compton Knowledge of the Order (KOTO) award. Another great achievement for Maree in 2006 in representing Rockhampton in as the leader of a team of three at the St John Ambulance Cadets State First Aid Championships

The Capricornian Apprentice of the Year Brooke Lane was hosted by Aeroworx Pty Ltd during her apprenticeship. Her Host’s comments were:

“Brooke is punctual, thoughtful and has an excellent work attitude. She is meticulous, methodical and conscientious in her work. Brooke is a valuable team player and we are keen to employ her when she completes her apprenticeship.”

When asked why she should be considered for an award Brooke said:

“I believe this nomination should be considered, because of the hard work, dedication and determination it has taken to succeed as a female within the Aviation Maintenance Industry.

I have reached my first goal of becoming a Trade Qualified Aircraft Maintenance Engineer. I plan to be a recognised future role model to those who follow in my footsteps – especially for women who want to make a career in Aviation.

As a part of the Aviation Industry I believe there is not enough recognition of the trade as a whole. I think this would be a great opportunity for the industry to be seen in a new light, and also from a female perspective.”

Small Host Employer of The Year was Callide Valley Plumbing & Irrigation.

Large Host Employer of The Year was Joy Mining Machinery who employs 15 apprentices through CTC.

The Annual Awards event in Rockhampton and Emerald is a major element of CTC’s yearly Calendar and we thank all our valued sponsors for making this such a worthwhile event.
