Capricornia Training Company (CTC) Limited started in an unused storeroom in Rockhampton City Hall adjacent to the main safe. A space was cleared and a borrowed student desk and cane chair was the only equipment available.

It was twelve months later when the first Administration person was employed. The first Field Officer was employed when CTC had around 50 to 70 apprentices.

CTC's first apprentice was signed up on 16th September 1986, a Radio TV Mechanic however he did not commence his apprenticeship until January 1987 due to completing school. The first apprentice who actually commenced work for CTC was an Apprentice Cook and he was hosted by Whoopee Chook -a chicken and health food place in Rockhampton Shopping Fair. He commenced on 29th September 1986.

Today CTC has a staff of 25 and there are five divisions of the company. They are - Administration, Finance, Apprentice Services Division, Training and Transition Services, Building Services Division,

CTC is a not-for-profit organisation, limited by guarantee and is governed by a Board of Directors made up of eight high profile and respected business people.
